Our Recent Family Addition

This is the most recent addition to our family. Her name is Lily. She is half bichon frise and half lahsa apso. We got her from a family that Jon had to do some work at. They were an older couple and said she was too much energy for them. As most of you know - our last dog escapade was not so great but I thought we might try a female this time and maybe breed her a bit. And wouldn't you know it 4 days after we got her she came in heat! I'm still not sure what we are going to do yet, but I guess there are options!

Kwik Kachup -

I guess its obvious that I've been neglecting my blog big time! I realy have no real excuse - however heres a quick over view of my last few months:

I spend most of my days with this cutie pie. I just love her more and more every day. And this is what we've been up to.

I can't believe it! My baby is two! We had a Tigger and Pooh birthday party to celebrate with all the little cousins - it was tigger-iffic!

Jon had to go to California for a family matter and of corse had to get some 'Raider' apparel. Does she belong in the 'black hole' or what?:)

This has been our latest endever. Although I have been surprised as to how cooperative she had been. Its amazing the power that 'chocolate' has on a two year old!

All in all life has been going swimmingly. Even though we are starting to have those lovely 2 yr. old tantrums - we learn to laugh them off and move on.

So this is a small peek of our last few months. I hope to post a little more often! So keep checking!)

New Years Resolutions

Well its that time again! Time to make those annual resolutions and goals for the upcoming year. Here are a few of mine:
- Lose Weight (get into those jeans, again)
- Get Organized (at home, financially, etc.)
- Prioritize Church going (set my alarm the night before, help Lexi get used to nursery)
- Have family prayers
- Try to read more books (I somewhat enjoy reading if I only had more time)
- Spend more quality time with Lexi
- Learn to cook better

These are just a few of my resolutions that I want to work on this upcoming year? What are some of your New Year resolutions?

Christmas Day

Well Grandma, Grandpa, Kurt and Brian first stayed to watch the boys 'destroy' christmas morning. Then they came down to watch Lexi. I was excited to see how she would react to everything. I must say she was a little overwhelmed by the video camera and audience she had when she walked into the front room. It took her a little while to even want to start opening and playing with things. I didn't realize what a perfectionist Lexit was until I watched her open each gift one teeny, tiny little piece at a time. She would rip a small piece of paper and then hand it to Jon. Our Christmas could have probably lasted at least until noon. She loved: her doll, her purse, her princess chair and her chapsticks.

Recapping Christmas Eve and Day

I had a few minutes so I wanted to give just a quick overview of our Holiday happenings. Christmas Eve we had friends and family over to my Moms house for a very nice sit-down dinner, including soup, sandwiches, slush drink, shrimp and salad. Everything was so nice. After dinner the kids opened a few gifts and played around a bit with them. Then everyone opened the 'traditional pjs'. This was our tradtion growing up we would all get new pj's to wear for Christmas morning (usually matching)

December 23rd

This was a quick pic we snapped after Sac. Mtg. Lexi got a new dress from Grandma. She was beautiful of corse!

The Nativity Tradition!

One tradition that the Holyoaks have is that every year they do a live nativity on the Sunday before Christmas. After dinner all the kids dress up in their assigned costumes and do a production of the Nativity as Papa reads the story from the scriptures. This year Lexi was an angel.
And, of course, she was the cutest little angle ever. Grandma and I sewed the dress and sprinkles irridescent glitter all over it! It was a little over the top - but that happens quite often when my Mom and I do a project together.

The Grand Shillin's

This was a pix that we took for Uncle David. He wanted to give it to his parents. I posted it on my blog so my SIL could help me decide which one to send into Walgreens. Arn't they all so stinkin' cute!

A Good Find

I just wanted to pass on a little web site that my SIL told me about. She sells Gold Canyon Candle (my total weakness) and May Kay. She does the cutest gift baskets including Mary Kay, Candles and chocolate! All the Holyoak girls can't wait for Valentines Day to see what she made for our husbands to give us!! Anyway she told me about this greatest website were she gets some of her celophane bags and ribbons. I ordered my goodie bags from there this year. Check it out - lot of fun stuff!

How nice it has been getting the many Christmas cards from friends and family. I love going to the mailbox each day to see what new cards we've gotten. I love displaying them and being able to enjoy the pretty cards and cute pictures all thru the season!

Playing Beauty Salon!

Well I had just a few minutes since Lexi was napping to get some blogging in. We've had a fun day! I got most of my Christmas baking done today. Although I use the term "baking" very loosely (ie: chex mix, muddy buddy and magic bars). I also was able to perm Lexi's hair with Grandmas help. She did so good! Lexi's hair is what I call 'unfortunate' or 'feathers'. She is just in that awquward stage of hair growing at different stages and it was looking a little disheviled. So grandma thought it might be fun to perm it. So here are a few before, during and after pix!
I think it will look great with a little gel and a cute bow!

Oh, what we do for 'Beauty'!

A Calling?

Well no more - no callings! Last week they called both me and my sister to be Achievment Day Advisors Assistants. We are excited - I think. I don't really know much about the calling - but I think it will be fun! I suppose we got the calling because they probably thought since we sell candy and shaved ice to all the kids in the neighborhood we might already know most of the girls. Anyway we'll see how it goes!

Just Bloggin' Around

I just got home from running errands and Lex was napping so I had a second to do a little 'bloggin' around'. I absolutely love to look at other peoples blogs. I am jealous of some the creative blog layouts there are out there and many entries that are on some of the blogs. I unfortunately don't get much time to blog, but still loooove it! I am starting to make a list of other blogs I love to look at.

Christmas Card Chaos!

I need to apologise for some confusion on the delivery of our family christmas cards. It seems the cost of postage has gone up. And I, being in my own little world did not realize it until after the fact. So to anyone that had to pay to receive our christmas card or that might get it a little late - I am truly sorry. I guess theres always next year!

Deck the Halls

Deck the Halls . . . walls, trees, doors, basically anything that will stand still! Here are a few pix of our Holiday decor. I just got a new 'skinny tree' for my kitchen area. I am going to make it a year 'round tree and decorate it for all seasons. Grandma got Lexis pink christmas tree for her bedroom - she loves it. I am also surprised how she has left the ornaments alone and not pulled them off! Thank goodness!

Introducing the "Naughty Chair"

You guessed it - Lexi has now been introduced the 'naughty chair'. It is becoming apparent that Lexi is getting closer and closer to that infamous terrible 2 stage. We have been having trouble keeping meals on the table and not thrown or spit onto the floor or dog. Thus the introduction of the 'naughty chair'. Shes still trying to figure it all out. Sometimes she will drag it over to her naughty spot and just sit on it for fun. I suppose it takes time:)

November Happenings

I just thought I would do a little catch up - since I havn't blogged in a while. Our winter has been very mild this year, to say the least. We have been able to have a few fires in the firepit and roast some marshmellows. Lexi really quite likes the whole production. I'm amazed at how patient she is to get the perfect golden (not chared) marshmellow! She must get that from Jon!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Well we hope every ones Halloween was 'Spook-tacular'! Ours was so nice. Halloween is my most favorite holiday - I think its because of the way my Mom celebrated Halloween growing up. There was always lots of decorations, family, always a huge food spread - including dry ice, and fun costumes. I hope Lexi grows up to love Halloween as much as I do.

As you can see Lexi was a Sassie Flapper Girl. Grandma and I sewed this ourselves. You don't see it in this picture but she also had a light-up boa and a sparkly purse to hold her candy. She was not too sure about the whole trick-or-treating thing until she realized that she was getting candy! Funny how fast that catches on! :)

We started the night at my moms house with a huge Mexican dinner and then hit a few houses for candy. We then headed to Holyoak Lane for G-ma and G-pa to see Lexi and hung out there for a little while. We ended the night at Aunt Kelli's house. It was lots of fun!

Introducing the Bahama Mamas Shaved Ice Shaq

Introducing the Bahama Mamas Shaved Ice Shaq! This is our latest project. Tammi and I bought this golf cart that had a 6 inch lift on it back about 3 weeks ago. We painted it, put shelves on it and set it all up to sell shaved ice in the neighborhood. What a hit it has been. We drop our kids at G-mas house and head out. We work approximately 2 1/2 hours a day. This pic was before the kids got out of school - there are usually approximately 20 kids lined up behind the kart for the first hour. Its amazing how many adults we get as well! It is lots of fun, and a nice outlet too! (Keep us in mind for your next party! ;))
